Not strictly a pearl, cotton 'pearls' have been made in Japan for over 50 years. They are created by artisans who apply a specially developed lustrous coating over compressed cotton balls.
 
An innovative take on a classic style, these cotton pearl stud earrings are lightweight and comfortable to wear, with a beguiling iridescent sheen.

Japanese creators Anq Design produce elegant modern jewellery using traditional cotton pearls. Artisans in Tokyo apply a specially developed lustrous coating over compressed cotton balls to create exceptionally light cotton pearls with a lustrous iridescent quality.
