Sarah Cavender originally studied sculpture, and this practice informed her innovative techniques and use of materials. Each of her pieces contains an element of woven wire or mesh work. She takes inspiration and design references from ancient and medieval jewellery, as seen in the V&A collection.

A brass cobra chain is powder-coated with silver pigment before being sealed with lacquer to protect the finish of this elegant necklace.

About the designer
Sarah Cavender

Sarah Cavender

A specialist in mesh work, Sarah Cavender discovered a love of wire metals whilst studying sculpture at the Philadelphia College of Art, creating and developing her distinctive forming processes.

Constantly seeking new materials to combine with her signature wire elements, Cavender also supervises production from Oxford, Alabama, where local artisans hand-craft each piece using locally made materials, combined with stones imported from Europe.
