Details
Created exclusively for the V&A as part of V&A Select; a collection of artist print commissions, each in limited edition of just 75. The artists were chosen for the way their work connects with the V&A and creates the opportunity for a new dialogue with the collection.
This special piece by Bob & Roberta Smith reflects the museum's mission to bring art and design to the masses, distilling that idea to a powerful slogan in a campaign for creativity. Punky, improvised typography was designed in the tradition of revolutionary art, and the colours were inspired by 16th-century playing cards in the V&A collection, an early example of the democratisation of art through woodcut printing.
